Wearing our Red Capes for Kids

We had an exciting opportunity to participate in Holland Bloorview's third annual Capes for Kids campaign. A campaign to raise awareness and fundraise for creating better services and support for patients and their families at the hospital. On March 4th to 10th, 2019, all participants of the campaign wore red capes wherever they went - representing paediatric patients as heroes who break-down existing boundaries at the hospital everyday.

At Tjene, we had our team nominate 10 Tjeners who we wanted to see wear a red cape between March 4th to 8th. Of the 10 Tjeners who were nominated, they were each paired up to wear a red cape for a full day, and come up with three challenges they would complete if a certain amount was raised for the campaign.

With every milestone reached, the nominated pairs and additional volunteers completed challenges such as: cooking breakfast, giving compliments, baking cookies, and picking up bubble tea for an office of 50 people. We also witnessed our teammates taking whipped cream pies to the face and shaving their heads - all for the kids!

We had an initial goal of raising $1,500, and with everyone's support, generosity, and perhaps the eagerness to see our teammates getting their head shaved, we were able to raise a total of $9,737!
